Samsung will make foldables outside Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold. Thanks to the LetsGoDigital delivery, we can get the impression of what a new Samsungs foldable looks like in collaboration with Sarang Sheth.
Both the WIPO and USTPO filed the patent within one day. The patents are titled 'Method and equipment for the provision of a foldable display user interface on electronic devices.'
The foldable, dual hinges with three display sections are dubbed the "Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Tab." The gap left by the two outside sections is enough to contain an S-pen and a three-camera setting, which is stacked vertically.
The device can be used in three configurations: completely open, folded on one or completely folded on one side. Once the shift is detected, the interface adapts. In flex mode LetsGoDigital is mentioned, so we expect that the joints will also appear here.
The multifunctional foldable of this kind was previously patented by Samsung. The Galaxy S-foldable shown last month by Samsung shows that the company certainly has various form factors before deciding on which one to include in its Z-shapes.
That said, a device such as this one can never be sold and the renderings you see for reporting purposes are illustrated.
Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold3 is reported to be in mass production and foldables and the next galaxy Z flip smartphone are expected to be added sometime in July.
Samsung has recently predicted that by the end of 2021, it will sell 7 million foldable devices.
Samsung's future lies heavily within its own and other OEMs' flexible displays. We should see an increase in the number of folding devices, but the average cost of smartphones should be increased.
It will be interesting to see whether the market accepts pliable form factors permanently or whether they never disappear.
