Android-powered 2.3.7 and lower phones will be given a username or password error when user attempts to log into any Google apps loaded on their phones.
Google won't support sign-in on versions 2.3.7 or lower for Android phones. This change will take effect from September 27th, and Google will send an e-mail to users. The email suggests that customers update their Google apps even after September to at least Android 3.0 Honeycomb. This will disrupt the registration level system and the app, but users should still be able to join up via their browser in Gmail, Google Search, Google Drive, YouTube and other Google services.
In their research, 9to5Google shared the people who are likely to suffer from this change with a screenshot of the mail. Users of extremely ancient Android versions are probably quite small, and Google certainly does this to protect user data and ensure the security of the accounts. Starting from September 27, when you try to sign-in for Google apps loaded on your telephone, users running on Android version 2.3.7 and later will encounter a 'Username or Password Error.'
The e-mails seem to be a message of warning for those few people who still use versions of the old software and urge them to update or replace their program.
The report said after September 27, that old Android users will make an error while trying to sign up for Google's products and services, such as Gmail, YouTube, and Maps. You will also make an error if you attempt to add, create, reset or re-register a new Google account. An issue will occur to old Android version users if they try and change the password of their Google account, sign users in all devices and try to re-enter. Even when you remove the account from your device and try to re-add it, a username and password issue will continue to appear.
If you still use Android 2.3.7 (the Gingerbread final version) or later, Google won't allow you to sign in on that smartphone from 27 Sept., as per a support document (via Liliputing).
"Within the course of continuous efforts to keep our clients safe, Googles will no longer allow Android devices running Android 2.3.7 or lower by 27 September 2021," the corporation said. You may experience login or password difficulties after September 27, when you try to access Google products and services such as Gmail, YouTube and Maps when logging into your device.
Android 2.3.7 was launched about ten years ago, to give you an indication of how old a device may be affected by this update. Since there are currently over 3 billion active Android devices in the wild, this shift is likely to effect more than a few people who could still keep up with older technology.
You can use certain of Google services when you've logged in to your smartphone browser according to Google if you're on Android 2.3.7 or older after this September 27th deadline. But Android 3.0 smartphones (Honeycomb) can continue to log in into Google's accounts, claims the company, so if you can update your older handset, you may want to.
