iPhone History 2007 - 2021: Evolution of iPhone began in 2004, when Apple started to gather a team of 1000 employees led by Hardware department led by Tony Fadell, Software department led by Scott Forstall and sketch design project led by Sir Jonathan Ive to start work on the highly intimate called "Project Purple"

The iPhone 4s in 2012 was the first model to be manufactured simultaneously by two companies Foxconn and Pegatron. Foxconn still produces more iPhones, Pegatron's orders have been increased slowly. Pegatron made part of the iPhone 5C line in 2013 and 30% of iPhone 6 devices in 2014. The 6 Plus model was produced solely by Foxconn. In 2019 Apple investigating team found that some Foxconn managers had used rejected parts to build iPhones. iphone's in India are manufactured by a Taiwan based company called Wistron. Workshop is based near Bangalore to assemble iPhones to sell in the region.

 

First Apple iPhone: First iPhone was launched to public on January 9 2007 at the Macworld 2007 convention at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. The two initial models of iPhone were 4 GB model priced at US$499 and an 8 GB model at US$599 both the phones available on a two-years contracts, Sale in the United States started on June 29, 2007. People even started calling the 'Jesus phone'. Following the successful launch in the United States of America, the first-generation iPhone was made available in the UK, France, and Germany in November 2007 followed by Ireland and Austria in the spring of 2008. Apple iPhone 3G: July 11 2008 Apple launched the iPhone 3G in twenty-two countries including the initial six countries. This iPhone is faster and more feature packed as per apple. Apple iPhone 3GS: Apple announced the iPhone 3GS with iPhone 3.0 new operating system on June 8 2009 at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) along with plans to release it later in June, July, and August, starting with the US, Canada and major European countries on June 19 2009. The iPhone 3G and 3GS had a full plastic back body to increase the strength of the GSM signals. iPhone 3GS was powered by iPhone 3.0 the new operating system of apple iPhone. "You know, I grew up with the Jetsons and video calls," Jobs said to Ive. "And now it's real." Thats "FaceTime". Users of the iPhone 4 reported dropped/disconnection of telephone calls when holding their phones in a certain way. This incident became known as antennagate

 

Apple iPhone 4s: On Tuesday, September 27, 2011. Apple sent invitations to all major journalist and press companies for a press event to be held on October 4, 2011, At the Cupertino headquarters to announce details of the next generation iPhone. And this was the turning point for iPhone and Nokia. Now Apple became the largest mobile handset vendor in the world by revenue, in 2011, surpassing long-time leader Nokia.

By this time Mr. Steve Jobs who already resigned because of health issues did not appear for the event. From the outer side the iPhone 4S looks identical to iPhone 4, Quoted by Apple executive it's "all new" on the inside, arguing that it was "the best iPhone yet."

 

Apple iPhone 5: On September 12, 2012 Apple CEO Tim Cook first time announced the iPhone 5. Claimed by Apple Its now faster, slimmer upgrade that for the first time in the five-year history of the smartphone, boasts a larger screen of 4 inches. The iPhone 5 was priced at $199 for a 16GB model, $299 for 32GB, and $399 for 64GB of storage space

Apple iPhone 5s & Apple iPhone 5c: On September 10 2013 Apple CEO Tim Cook and other executives unveiled the iPhone 5s and the plastic-backed iPhone 5c. The iPhone 5C is a mid-range price version of the handset that is designed to increase accessibility due to its price and available in five colors (green, blue, yellow, pink, and white) and is made of plastic. The iPhone 5S comes in three colors (black, white, and gold) and the home button is replaced with a fingerprint scanner (Touch ID).

Phone 5s includes an aluminium-based body which was thinner and lighter than previous models, little bit taller screen with a nearly 16:9 aspect ratio, Apple A6 system-on-chip, LTE support, and Lightning, a new compact dock connector which replaced the 30-pin design used by previous iPhone models.

 

Apple iPhone 6 & iPhone 6 plus: On September 9 2014, Apple launched the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus at an event in Cupertino. Both devices had a larger screen than their predecessor 4.7 inches (120 mm) and 5.5 inches (140 mm) respectively. After the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus was released Suddenly a breaking news started because of some users started complaining about the 6 and 6 Plus bending from normal use. This news became known as "Bendgate" which later started "Touch Disease." However, than Apple released the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, a more bend-resistant iPhone than the 6 and 6 Plus, to solve this issue.

 

Apple iPhone 6s & iPhone 6s Plus:  On September 2015 Tim Cook announced Apple iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus which was called as an upgrade to 2014 models of iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. Some critics also quoted saying its and idea to overcome the "Bendgate" issue reported in iPhone 6 and 6 plus. The new iPhone 6s and 6s plus got new force touch technology called 3D Touch, equipped with 12-megapixel camera that can shoot 4k video. Both phone run on faster A9 chip and with a new edition in colors was Rose Gold

 

Apple iPhone 7 & iPhone 7 Plus: On September 7, 2016 Apple executives, including CEO Tim Cook unveiled the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus which added water and dust resistance feature, improved system and graphics performance, a new dual-camera setup on the Plus model, with new color options, and featured the removal of the 3.5 mm headphone jack from the iPhone. Powered by 64-bit quad-core A10 Fusion SoC.

 

Apple iPhone 8 & iPhone 8 Plus: On September 12 2017 Apple unveiled the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus which features a new glass design, improved camera, a TrueTone display, wireless charging, and improved system performance. They also unveiled the iPhone X, with features like near bezel-less design, a facial recognition features like "FaceID", Animojis, an OLED screen, a new telephoto lens, and improved cameras for AR

 

Apple iPhone X: Tim Cook on September 2017 event after launched for iPhone 8 and 8 plus at the end now Mr. Tim Cook said the Steve Job's golden words "One more thing" and announced iPhone X (Also known as “iPhone 10”). Featuring Super Retina display. Edge-to-edge 5.8-inch screen with OLED panel 2436 x 1125 and support for HDR (both Dolby Vision and HDR10). First iPhone without a home button and The new 3D scanning system, called FaceID. Support wireless charging, and a new animated emoji feature for messaging. With 12-megapixel rear cameras with dual optical image stabilization feature.

 

Apple iPhone XR, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max: On September 12, 2018, Apple launched the new iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR at the Steve Jobs theatre at Apple Park USA. The iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max features an improved Super Retina Display with Dolby Vision and HDR10 support. iPhone XS Max featuring a larger 6.5 inches (170 mm) display, better cameras with Smart HDR, and A12 Bionic chip. The iPhone XS and XS Max are IP68 resistant which allow the devices to be submerged in up to 2 meters for a duration of 30 minutes, while iPhone XR has the IP67 certification found in the first-generation iPhone X and also featuring an IPS LCD display instead of the OLED displays found in the higher-end models. For the iPhone XS/XS Max's IP68 certifications phones were tested using various liquids such as chlorinated-water, saltwater, tea, wine, beer, and juices etc

 

Apple iPhone 11, Apple iPhone 11 pro and Apple iPhone 11 pro max: On September 10, 2019 Apple unveiled the iPhone 11 at Steve Jobs Theatre USA along with the iPhone 11 Pro and the iPhone 11 Pro Max. iPhone 11 was added with the new color purple and the rear facing camera consist of a 12MP wide angle camera with f/1.8 aperture and a 12MP ultra-angle camera with f/1.4 aperture. Apple iPhone 12 & iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 pro & iPhone 12 pro max:  The iPhone 12 and 12 Pro series were virtually announced on October 13, 2020, featuring a refreshed design, Super Retina XDR Displays across all models, and first time 5G connectivity network. This time the new super retina XDR displays are built with what apple says it a "ceramic shield" four times better resistance to breaking if dropped. All iPhone 12 models have A14 Bionic Chip. iPhone 12 pro max gets even larger and bigger this time with 6.7 screen. iPhone 12 pro and 12 pro max has more storage options this time maximum of 512GB. The new three lens pro 12MP camera system includes 4X or 5X optical zoom range, Night mode, LiDAR sensors for faster focus and improved AR/VR.

 

Apple iPhone 13 & iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 pro & iPhone 13 pro max: Last but not the least the iPhone 13 and 13 Pro series were virtually announced on September 14 2021. The new Apple iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini started where last year’s models left off, with new processor and better battery life, Higher storage capacity ranging from 128GB to 1TB. All the 4 models run on the new A15 Bionic chip. New iPhone 13 Pro models this time getting ProMotion screens for smoother on-screen graphics and the highest 1TB storage capacity. iPhone 13 Pro model’s camera has ultra-wide and wide cameras for "cinematic mode" videos and micro photography.
