A report by 91 Mobiles citing retail sources claims that the JioPhone Next may be up for pre-bookings in India starting next week. It claims that Reliance is in talks with its retail partners, and more news around the JioPhone Next will be shared with the retailers in the next few days. During the unveiling of the JioPhone Next, Chairman Mukesh Ambani mentioned that the smartphone would be the "cheapest smartphone by far in India and around the world."

Google CEO Sundar Pichai also revealed details about the JioPhone Next, as it would run an improved version of Android OS and support Android updates as feature drops. In the 44th Annual General Meeting, Reliance also stated that some features of the JioPhone Next, like support for the voice assistant, language translation, camera with augmented reality filters, automatic read-aloud of screen text and more.

Citing people familiar with the plans in the retail chain, 91Mobiles states that JioPhone Next pre-bookings in India will begin next week. Jio is said to have started talks with its retail partners for the pre-orders. At the AGM in June, Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani had announced that the phone would be available on September 10. Jio, still, has not yet provided any further details.

It could contain a 2,500mAh battery and feature dual-SIM support. Also, the budget smartphone is rumoured to have Bluetooth v4.2 and GPS connectivity. Jio confirmed that the JioPhone Next will come bundled with system-wide Read Aloud and Translate Now features. It will also have a deep merge with Google Assistant and India-specific Snapchat Lenses within the phone's camera.
