WhatsApp backups on Google Drive may no longer get unlimited storage space in the future as some rumours online shows a limit backup for Android devices is in the works. WhatsApp users on Apple iPhone already have limited storage capacity for storing backups on iCloud. This is, however, not the scenario with Android user's as they have been provided with unlimited storage on Google Drive for keeping their chat backups. WhatsApp may introduce some extreme changes to their storage backup policy to help users to manage their backup size on Android platform
Google may soon restrict the storage it provides for WhatsApp chat backup on Google Drive. There are hints of a limited storage plan under works which may become the default for all WhatsApp users on Android going forward. Users will then might have to pay for extra storage for chat backups once the free or current limit is crossed.
This feature has been spotted in development by WABetaInfo. A SS of it shows multiple strings mentioning changes to Google Drive and its storage allocated to WhatsApp chat backups.
It may not be a surprise to see Google ending unlimited storage for WhatsApp backups. As Google last year ended the unlimited free storage benefit given to users for Google Photos and Gmail. The change may be a move to convince users to get paid Google service to One plans that start from Rs. 130 a month in India ($1.99 in the US) for the basic 100GB cloud storage access.
Let’s check the first new features of WhatsApp in 2022
Visible photo notification: WhatsApp notifications are all set to get more advance and interesting. In 2022, WhatsApp application is all set to release its latest feature for Apple iOS beta users. The new feature will allow users to view the sender’s profile pictures in the system notifications. It is likely to be implemented for all at a later stage this year

How: To set this feature you need to head to your WhatsApp settings.
Now click 'Account' and then 'Privacy'.
From here you can switch on 'Screen Lock' with either Touch ID or Face ID mode.
You'll be able to choose a duration of time for when the ID is required again.
Now whenever you go to open the app, it'll ask you for your prints or a picture of your face to check it's really you reading your private chats or not. You can still read and quick reply to messages in your notification windows, so the tool isn't foolproof yet. You'll be able to answer WhatsApp calls too. Of course, you can disable all message previews in your iPhone settings.
WhatsApp self-deleting text: WhatsApp also has a recently added a new feature that will automatically self-destruct new texts after a day.
The new security update is aimed at boosting users’ privacy by destroying old WhatsApp text messages. You can set Disappearing Messages to automatically turn on for all new chats without impacting existing conversations.
And two new durations have been added for Disappearing text Messages 24 hours and 90 days. So now you have option to choose from four options in total 24 hours, 7 days, 90 days or Off.
How: Go to Settings > Account > Privacy and then turn on Default Message Timer.
This feature has rolled out almost Start of this month (January 2022), so make sure you've updated WhatsApp to its latest version. Bear in mind that this system isn't perfect yet.
Two step verification: Finally last but not the least for this year, you should turn on two-step verification right now
It's an extra security step for verifying your phone number, to help keep hackers out of your device. Hackers and scammers regularly try to break into WhatsApp accounts. Hijacking a WhatsApp account is an easy way to gain the trust of your friends and family, allowing even more sinister scams to be performed.
How: To turn on two-step verification, go to Settings > Account and toggle the setting to turn On or OFF.
